I made my weekly pilgrimage to the Cowichan Valley this weekend to photograph some water buffalo and Cowichan sweaters. More on the Cowichan sweaters later.
These water buffalo live at Fairburn Farm, lovingly cared for by Darrel and Anthea Archer. Canada’s first herd of water buffalo, these animals (and the Archers) are responsible for production of milk, cheeses and yoghurt. It’s all very cool and the buffalo are like giant affectionate cats. Other animals were photographed as well, take a look.

And a few small guys.
The Fairburn Farm Murrah Buffalo are an example of excellent Canadian Herd Management.
My herd management in Brazil, Paraguay and Bulgaria can learn from Canada.
