The wines at Rocky Creek Winery, Cowichan Valley
Rockey Creek Winery, located in the heart of Cowichan Bay, is a small boutique winery owned and operated by Linda and Mark Holford since July 2008. Mark is a third generation winemaker and has included his entire family in the planting, harvesting and making of the wine. They actually own two separate vineyards. One is located at the winery and open to the public; however, the original vineyard is 20 minutes away and is not open to the public.
The Holfords designed their vineyard around the existing ecosystem and space their rows much farther apart than most winerys to maintain this ecosystem; thus, allowing for a much more disease-free crop than the other winerys. Rockey Creek Winery has won many awards for their wines over the past five years. The wines available are Pinot Gris, Ortega, Robin’s Rose, Pinot Noir, Wild Blackberry wine and the newest addition to their winery – Katherine’s Sparkle, named after their second daughter.
The winery is open to the public by appointment all year. Beginning April 1, to September 15, of each year, you may visit the winery Thursday through Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm. You may also purchase wines from Rockey Creek Winery on line at www.rockycreekwinery.ca. If you should have any questions or comments regarding the winery or vineyard please contact the winery by telephone at (250) 748-5622 or by mail at 1854 Myhrest Rd., Cowichan Bay, BC, V0R 1N1 Canada.
