Garnet Rogers will be performing at the Duncan Garage Showroom October 12th 2009.
Longevity John, owner of the Duncan Garage Showroom and the Not So General Store in (you guessed it) downtown Duncan, BC is a tireless promoter of musicians young and old, the well-known and those just starting out and hoping for the Big Break.
The Duncan Garage Showroom with its intimate and funky atmosphere is a favourite venue for performers and audience. And, every so often, Longevity John treats his faithful supporters to a night with an icon of Canadian music. On October 12th – that’s right, Thanksgiving Monday – Garnet Rogers is performing at the Garage.
Garnet Rogers is, indeed, a folk music icon. His rich baritone voice and passionate lyrics have entertained audiences for more than three decades, first as back-up singer with his brother, Stan Rogers who died in a plane crash in 1983, then – after a brief hiatus – on his own. His compositions are stories, stories of ordinary people in sometimes extraordinary circumstances – or merely Roger’s keen observations of a seemingly ordinary event.
