<p>Alpacas are a popular farm animal in the area. This young fellow lives at a very picturesque farm on Koksilah Road south of Duncan.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I made my weekly pilgrimage to the Cowichan Valley this weekend to photograph some water buffalo and Cowichan sweaters. More on the Cowichan sweaters later.</p>
<p>These water buffalo live at Fairburn Farm, lovingly cared for by Darrel and Anthea Archer. Canada&#8217;s first herd of water buffalo, these animals (and the Archers) are responsible for production of milk, cheeses and yoghurt. It&#8217;s all very cool and the buffalo are like giant affectionate cats. Other animals were photographed as well, <a href="http://cowichanvalleyphotos.com/archives/11" title="Cowichan Valley animals">take a look</a>.</p>
