I headed down to Cow Bay (really Cowichan Bay, I guess the name is a little long for many) a few days ago after a heavy snow and below normal temperatures. While this isn’t that abnormal in the Cowichan Valley the present temperatures do make one dream of heading south or west where the temperature is a little more on the “warm” side. Come to think of it, that’s exactly what I try to do every winter for at least a month.
Anyway, back to Cow Bay. As much as I dislike the cold and wind I find the snowy and icy views very beautiful and for a few hours every day try and get out and shoot photographs. Part of the issue here is that we don’t (I don’t) own clothes designed for this weather so my tactic is to shoot like crazy for an hour and right before hypothermia sets in get back inside and warm up with a cup of coffee. A few outings like this and it’s back to dreaming of Asia.
